Polenteria
Polenteria is a cozy little spot that is located right in the heart of downtown Los Gatos. It is an upscale Italian restaurant that serves some of the best Italian food we have had in Northern California. Not only is the food delicious, but it is also entirely gluten free! You’re heard that right – all of their breads, pastas, and even their breaded fried items, are entirely gluten free. This is our number one recommendation if you are looking for excellent gluten free Italian food in the Bay Area.
- Gluten free status. Polenteria is a dedicated gluten free facility. All of the food that they cook in their kitchen is entirely gluten free.
- Other dietary restrictions. Polenteria also has plenty of vegetarian options available. Vegetarian options are not labeled on the menu, but they are generally easy to spot.
- Cuisine. Polenteria is an Italian restaurant that serves upscale Italian dishes. As the name suggests, the restaurant specializes in polenta and has a large selection of flavorful polenta dishes available. They also have a large range of bruschetta options and provide the option to craft your own bruschetta flight by choosing three of their many bruschetta flavors.
- Atmosphere. Polenteria is a small restaurant that has a very cozy atmosphere. The staff are welcoming and the restaurant is nicely decorated with accents that play up the cozy atmosphere. That means that this place feels very warm and inviting.
- Location. Polenteria is located in downtown Los Gatos, right across the street from the town plaza. That means that there is an ample amount of parking available nearby. There are some public transportation lines that drop off nearby, but the options are limited.
- Seating. Polenteria is a very small restaurant that does not have room for many tables. That means that reservations are highly recommended. We generally plan to make reservations at least a few days before we eat at Polenteria. All of the seating at Polenteria is located indoors.


Arepas Latin Cuisine
Arepas Latin Cuisine is a trendy Venezuelan restaurant that is located in a popular downton area of San Jose. Specifically, it is located in southwest San Jose in the Willow Glen area. This is a modern spot with a lively atmosphere that is the perfect place to grab a meal with friends. They have a fairly large menu that consists of Venezuelan classics like arepas, cachapas, and pabellon rice bowls that come with a variety of flavorful sauces. This is a great spot for anyone who likes bold latin flavors.
- Gluten free status. Arepas Latin Cuisine is not a dedicated gluten free restaurant. That being said, the vast majority of the items on their menu are naturally gluten free. There are only a few ingredients they use in their kitchen that contain gluten, so the chances of cross contamination are relatively low. The staff are also fairly vigilant about cross contamination and understand what measures should be taken to prevent cross contamination.
