Tavern in the Square is one of our favorite chain restaurants of all time. It is hard to say what our favorite thing about Tavern in the Square is when there are so many things to love. They make some really delicious food with unique flavor combinations. On top of that, they have excellent allergen protocols and the vast majority of the dishes they make are or can be made gluten free. As if that was not enough, they also have a fun and lively atmosphere that is always buzzing with excitement. This is a great place to go grab drinks with friends or watch a big sporting event.

  • Gluten free status. Tavern in the Square is not a dedicated gluten free restaurant. That being said a large portion of their menu is naturally gluten free and many items that are not naturally gluten free can be made gluten free with substitutions. Items that are or can be made gluten free are clearly labeled on the menu. The staff are knowledgeable about food allergies and take precautions to prevent cross contamination if you let them know you have an allergy. They also have a gluten free fryer and serve allergy food with allergens sticks to give you confidence that you have received the correct dish.
  • Other dietary restrictions. Tavern in the Square also has many vegetarian items available. Vegetarian items are clearly labeled on the menu. They employ strong allergen protocols, so they should be able to handle a wide range of food allergies. That being said, they are particularly well known for their gluten free offerings.
  • Cuisine. The menu at Tavern in the Square focuses primarily on American food. They serve upscale versions of many traditional American bar foods. These dishes are dressed up with nontraditional ingredients to create some fun and unique flavor combinations.

All of their staff goes through thorough allergy training and they take precautions to prevent cross contamination when they are handling allergy food. They say on their website that they are easily able to accommodate dairy, egg, nut, soy, and fish allergies.
  • Cuisine. Burtons Grill primarily serves American cuisine.
  • Atmosphere. Burtons Grill is a sit down restaurant. Burtons Grill is a popular bar and grill that is popular with families and singles alike. The atmosphere is a little more laid back than that of Tavern in the Square, but it is still pleasant and upbeat.

110 Grill

110 Grill is a modern American restaurant that goes out of its way to provide allergen friendly options. They specialize in gluten free food, but are vocal about being top 10 allergen friendly.   • Atmosphere. 110 Grill is a sit down restaurant. It is a nice but casual restaurant that is really warm and inviting. This is a fun spot to meet up with friends or family members.

Legal Seafood

Legal Seafood is a great place to check out if you are looking for a restaurant that is on the nicer side. This is an upscale seafood restaurant that has a large range of gluten free offerings. That being said, their menu is heavily dependent on seafood so this might not be the best place to go if you have people who stick to vegan or vegetarian diets in your party.

  • Gluten free status. Legal Seafood is not a dedicated gluten free facility. That being said, many of the dishes that they offer are or can be made gluten free.   • Atmosphere. Legal Seafood is a sit down restaurant. This is one of the fancier chains that is native to Massachusetts. That being said, some locations are more upscale than others.

Flatbread Company
